We can see California from here

We slept for 11 hours last night.  We got up to find our water hose had frozen.  When I disconnected, I broke off part of the faucet.  We had coffee and then hit the road by 8:30.  We expected to drive most of the day and end up in California, but we stopped at Brookings, five miles short of the border.  Actually, we are at the Port of Brookings RV Park, in the town of Harbor, Oregon.  The beach is only about 40 feet away, the closest we've been yet.

Ever since we left Cannon Beach, there has been a lot of haze along the coast.  Add a low winter sun to the mix and the glare driving south is nearly blinding at times.  For some reason, most of the great vistas offered by the highway pull offs are also looking south which has made getting good pictures a real challenge.

When we got here, we stopped for take-out from a pizza place on the docks called Zola's.  Here's our lunch coming out of the oven.  It's the first really decent shot I've had all day.

We took a long walk on the beach right after we checked in, even before hooking up.  The tide was low again, exposing some interesting rocks.

When we got back to the RV, we found people paddle surfing as the sun went down.

We ate leftover pizza for dinner then called Nicole on Skype.
