When we unhooked, we backtracked a bit and drove north to Cape Meares to check out the lighthouse. Once there we saw a sign for the Octopus Tree. I took pictures, of course, but for the first time, so did Nancy. That made it a lot more fun.

We then returned to Fred Meyer and bought an atomic clock. My mother had bought one when she lived with us in Alaska, only to find out they can't receive the time signal so far north. She returned it but I thought is was super cool and wished it had worked. Happily for me, when Nancy saw it, she thought so, too, and agreed to buy it even though what she really was after was a clock that glows in the dark so she could see the time when she wakes up in the middle of the night.
We also bought some lunch--egg salad on a croissant. It looked yummy in the case but the refrigeration had dried out the croissant and, naturally, cooled the egg salad, which left it no better than so-so.
Now that Nancy has a camera, dirt on the windshield that might spoil a shot is no longer acceptable, so before we left the parking lot, I had to get it good and clean. While I took care of that, she did a little cleaning in the RV, and before we knew it, it was after 1:00.
We headed for Waldport, but ran out of daylight at Seal Rock. The beach is right across Highway 101 from us, but by the time we checked in and parked, we barely made it over there before the sun set.
